We have approached to this particular theme symbolically and referred to the intangible, unquantifiable elements of our culture and national traits – the decisive readiness to act for another human being – the openness in relations, motivation, hospitality as an immanent trait of Poles – including the impulsive readiness to sacrifice for the needs of another human being in the face of their tragedy and needs – the protection of their life and health as our primary, national trait, stronger than other features of Polish characters. The last year, and our empathy towards war refugees, has reminded us of this again.

Our architectural is symbolic caught in motion and frozen flying flag under which one can physically and mentally take shelter. On the outside is constant while changes internally showing various faces of national identity, manifesto of positive qualities, country of innovators, discoverers, positive and progressive people finding solutions to pressing human problems from energy to medicine.

The pavilion is technically a 3-storey wooden structure with a restaurant area, an exhibition area, a concert hall hidden inside, with a membrane stretched roof, an internal woven ‘skin’ with a LED screen incorporated into it, displaying narrative animations throughout. The flexible ‘glazing’ is covered with transparent photovoltaic cells that power the pavilion. The entire structure is set on a water pond surrounded by typical Polish trees, which would remain as a trace of our presence. The entire structure of the pavilion is demountable and made of reusable materials.
